WOMEN IN ENGINEERING, SCIENCE, AND TECHNOLOGY

CONFERENCE GRANT

 

PROVISION

 

The Julia & Ken Gouw Foundation with the College of Engineering and the College of Science at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) established WiEST Conference Grant in 2018 for: 

  • Women in Engineering & Technology
  • Women in Science
to facilitate networking opportunities for young women engineers and scientists to embark on their careers.

​​In 2019, Micron joined force to expand the opportunities to more young women in technology.


PROGRAMME

Recipients in this programme will receive a one-time Conference Grant of up to $3,000 to cover registration and travel expenditures to attend a technical and bonafide conference in their respective fields.

Six awardees will be selected from each College with the following distribution:

  • College of Engineering: one from each School 
  • College of Science: three from SPMS, two from SBS, and one from ASE.

For 2019 call, two additional recipients were named Micron WiEST Awardees.


ELIGIBILITY

Participants must be female in their 4th year of PhD or in their early career (within two years of the award of PhD Degree) in the fields of the Schools under the College of Engineering and the College of Science.

q  Curriculum vitae (includes qualifications, employment records and list of scientific publications)

q  Statement of purpose (highlighting the scientific contributions and aspirations)

·         Font: Times new roman

·         Font size: 12 pt.

·         Line spacing: 1.5

·         Margin: 1”

·         up to 2 pages (A4 paper)

q  Letter of recommendation from supervisor

 

APPLICATION & GRANT PERIOD

The grant calls annually on 7 November during the WO+MEN fEST event.

All applicants are to email their application packages to women@ntu.edu.sg by 31 December, 23:59 hours.

The awardees will announced within 2 months of the submission deadline and the award presentation will follow accordingly.

The grant must be utilised by 31 December of the year of the award.

 

REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

Each awardee must inform the College on the conference prior to registering.

Within one month of their return, each awardee will submit a 1-2-page report and the award will be disbursed.
