History

Women@NTU was formalized in 2018 as the culmination of the momentum built around Women in Engineering, Science, and Technology (WiEST) initiatives. Inspired to increase the percentage of female participants in STEM fields and the recognition that role models were important in influencing career choices, the initiative started with a symposium featuring prominent women engineers/scientists/technologists in 2014. Since then, it has grown to include support for early career female researchers, mentorship networking platforms, seminars, and workshops not only for STEM but also for other disciplines across campus. Women@NTU also encompasses women in all job roles from educators, researchers, and administrators. Partnerships with prominent industry players and non-profit organizations enable cross-cultivation of ideas in advancing the women’s roles in academia, industry, and society.
